Whether it’s the New York Times, Boston Globe, or Los Angeles Times, the issue of sexual assault on college campuses has consistently made headlines over the past few years. Pomona College, like many other institutions, has been making important strides toward preventing sexual assault on campus and educating the community.
In April of 2011, the Office of Civil Rights of the Department of Education sent a letter reminding every college and university in the country of processes and procedures that should be in place to effectively combat the problem of sexual assault on campus in order to be in compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Pomona had a head start on this process as we started reviewing our processes, procedures and policies in 2008.
