It’s my pleasure to give you an overview of the role of the Office of Housing & Residence Life, some training programs that students are participating in, and a brief summary of action we’re taking on campus to combat the drought in California.
The Office of Housing & Residence Life (formerly “The Office of Campus Life”) supports students in outside-the-classroom learning and provides a clean, safe, and educational living-learning environment. Residence hall staff, including resident advisors, first-year sponsors, and the professional staff team support opportunities for students to develop new friendships and skills as well as learn about new ideas, beliefs and cultures within a welcoming and just community. Living on campus also provides unique opportunities for interpersonal learning and growth as students live, study and play together. Indeed, living on campus is a key part of a residential liberal arts education.
Beyond helping new students adjust to life at Pomona and make personal connections within the campus community, the Residence Life staff is part of a Student Affairs Division support team of highly-trained students and staff who are available and on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist with questions and problems.
